Our Mission

Our Mission:

To locate and maintain affordable and accessible housing for persons with developmental disabilities in decent and safe neighborhoods.

Housing Now is a membership organization of property managers, business people, housing advocates, consumer groups, service providers and local developers dedicated to expanding affordable and accessible housing options for persons with developmental disabilities.

What we do:

Housing Now was created through a generous grant from the Department of Developmental Services in October 2002. Housing Now hopes to become vendorized through Alta California Regional Center to provide the following services:

  • Assist in finding community living options for people
  • Provide housing resources education to consumers, families, SLS and ILS community facilitators, ACRC Service Coordinators, member agencies and property managers
  • Create and maintain a database of affordable housing options and expand those options
  • Assist people with applying for wait lists for subsidized housing
  • Provide resources for home modifications
  • Work with people to complete an Individual Housing Intake Assessment and create a Housing Plan
  • Provide community outreach to people
  • Educate the community about the living needs of people supported by ACRC
  • Conduct educational opportunities for service coordinators, the people they support, their families and service providers
